Leadership in Training Program
Wekeela’s Leadership in Training program for teens entering 11th grade features four core elements:
- Community Service
At Camp Wekeela: During their time at Wekeela, L.I.T.’s will receive real hands-on experience working with younger campers. The L.I.T.’s will assist instructors three periods per day. This provides them with valuable community service hours. L.I.T.’s will receive the service hours via a formal letter. While at Wekeela, L.I.T.’s will also have an opportunity to enjoy their favorite camp activities three periods a day.
There are several things that make this program unique. They are as follows:
New Orleans, LA - Through the St. Bernard Project initiative, L.I.T.’s will assist in renovating homes and receive valuable community service hours. L.I.T.’s will also visit Tulane University, The French Quarter, Café Du Monde, Aquarium of the Americas, just to name a few.
Camp Sunshine - Located on Maine's beautiful Sebago Lake, L.I.T.’s will earn community service hours working closely with families affected by life-threatening childhood illnesses.
