One of the reasons you were selected to be on the Wekeela Staff is your expertise in a particular activity. Very often, a specialty requires special equipment. Although we do provide the best equipment for instruction and camper use, we respect the possible need of every professional to use and maintain their own equipment.
If you choose to bring your own equipment, whether for your own specialty or just for your leisure use, bring it with you as baggage or ship it to camp to arrive the same week as your arrival date. We recommend shipping UPS. This would be at your own expense.
Items you may bring with you
We encourage you to bring your own culture with you, especially if it can be shared with campers. Brind some of your favorite books, a Walkman, a clock radio, tape recorder and/or a portable CD player. Your bicycle is welcome at Wekeela; however, the only storage we can offer is an outdoor bike rack allowing no protection from the elements. If it is important for you to keep your bike covered, bring appropriate
protection (such as a tarpaulin). If you play an instrument, by all means bring it with you. Finally, there is a VCR available in the staff lounge so if you have some favorite VHS tape cassettes, please bring them.
Items you may not bring with you
We do not allow personal televisions and other large electrical devices. Other items not permitted include electric blankets, hot plates, coffee makers, and other electrical appliances. If you have a question about something you want to bring, feel free to call the camp office for a
clarification.
Eyeglasses and medication
If you wear prescription eyewear, whether glasses or contact lenses, we recommend you bring an extra pair of each with you. Also, bring a copy of your prescription. We urge everyone to bring at least one good pair of sunglasses.
If you are taking prescription drugs on the advice of your physician, bring an ample supply of the medication for the summer. In addition to your medical certification, we require that you report medications to the camp nurse, as well as the dosage and any special instructions regarding its use.
