A well known educator and pioneer in the children's camping movement, Miss Emma Graumann, founded a girl's camp called WeYouWega at the present location in 1922.

Wekeela was established as a boys camp in the late 40's with a sister camp for girls called Camp Naiad, situated at a neighboring location.

Wekeela became fully co-ed in the 60's when the two camps were brought together where we are today.

Eric and Lauren Scoblionko, took over the camp in the early 1980's when they began a program of adding facilities to enlarge the offerings of the camp. Every addition was made to be sure that every possible activity a child could want would be offered with the best equipment under the best conditions.
